Parish Mission Statement
As a welcoming church, we seek to grow in faith, witnessing to and sharing God's love and forgiveness, both in the local community and overseas
The Church at the heart of the Community
St. Mark's has been at the heart of the Ballymacash/North Lisburn community since 1892 when a Chapel of Ease was built on the Nettlehill Road. The present church on the upper Ballymacash Road was opened in 1975. The faith proclaimed here down through the years is a gift which has been entrusted to us. Through a varied programme of worship, pastoral work and a diverse range of activities we endeavour to reach out to all ages. We believe God is calling us to use our gifts for the good of others and the extension of His Kingdom.
Central to our witness is the Biblical concept of stewardship of time, talents and financial resources. In accordance with Christ's teaching we are called to live responsibly and be accountable for the use we make of the resources God has entrusted to us. The truest response we make to God's grace is gratitude, manifesting itself in generosity and service and in spreading the seeds of love, hope, forgiveness and reconciliation.
In addition to the regular Church Services we are committed to providing opportunities for people of all ages to deepen their understanding of faith through Bible study, discussion groups, teaching and fellowship. A high priority is given to ministry among children and young people and to their involvement in worship.
We believe God is calling us to reach out to the disadvantaged and vulnerable. Through our pastoral ministry we endeavour to offer special support to the sick, the lonely, the elderly and those who are bereaved. We seek to promote conditions in society favourable to stable family life and welfare of children
Ministry and Mission
We aim to maintain and expand the resources for ministry and outreach to the whole community and to promote an informed awareness of overseas mission through education, fundraising and direct support of selected projects. Through our participation in the work of world development organisations, welfare agencies and mission societies we are committed to supporting initiatives which address issues such as poverty and justice.
O God, giver of all good gifts, help us to remember that it is more blessed to give than to receive. may we be mindful that we hold our gifts, our talents and our possessions in trust for You and the service of others. Pour into our hearts the Spirit of abundant generosity, and help us to be faithful stewards, showing forth our gratitude by giving ourselves, our souls and bodies to You and to Your service; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
